Middle school is tough without all the baggage kids might bring in from outside. Not a new problem in communities with lots of issues Reminded me of a story from many years ago about discipline problems in a middle school. Teacher partially blocked the entrance with a large trash can before students arrived the first day. Then left the room and waited for the students to all arrive. Then he starts to enter, stops by the trash can and as he kicks it across the room yells "who put this darn trash can here!" Now that he had their attention things went well. Discipline and respect start in the home and is brought to school. If not, the teacher's hands are tied from locally managing the situation sufficient to obtain the desired results. When God is kept out of the school, Godly behavior is also not present.
Prior to 1979, there were no formal announcements of business cycle turning points.
The NBER does not define a recession in terms of two consecutive quarters of decline in real GDP. Rather, a recession is a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales. For more information, see the latest announcement from the NBER's Business Cycle Dating Committee, dated 9/20/10.
